Saludos and welcome to the LGBT Resource Center at UC San Francisco!
Our Center serves as the hub for all queer life at UCSF including campus and medical center. We work toward creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment for LGBTQIA+ students, staff, faculty, post-docs, residents, fellows, alumni and patients. Our Center aims to sustain visibility and a sense of community throughout our many campus sites. We are committed to building workplace equity, promoting student & staff leadership, and providing high-quality, culturally-congruent care to our patients. We recognize that sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression are influenced by race, ethnicity, culture, age, ability, citizenship, nationality, class, faith, and other social characteristics. Thus, we take an intersectional approach to our work and believe that fighting one form of oppression means fighting all forms of oppression. We are committed to promoting equity and respect for all people at UCSF.
Founded in 1998 and hailed as the first resource center in a health science institution, the LGBT Resource Center will be celebrating 20 years of activism and advocacy in Spring 2018. We are committed to the unity, wellness, and inclusivity of our many queer communities. I invite you to attend one of our events to engage in building community and sharing space with us. As you navigate our institution and become involved, we encourage you to:
- Subscribe to our weekly newsletter via our listserv and follow us on social media;
- Attend one of our staple events, which include Coming Out Monologues, Trans Day of Remembrance & Resilience, Trans Day of Visibility, Allyship Series, and the End of the Year Gathering;
- Participate in the OUTlist, Mentoring Program, and Annual LGBTQIA+ Health Forum;
- Collaborate with the UCSF Committee on LGBTQ.
I invite you to partner with us in making UCSF a safer and braver space. I look forward to the opportunity of engaging in dialogue and meeting you around campus. Feel free to contact me and our staff for any questions or concerns.
Con orgullo y unidad,
